How To Easily Repair A Broken Chain On A Necklace

Bertha Garza

If you have a broken chain on a necklace, you may be able to fix it and repair the necklace so that you can continue to use it. It is very easy to fix a broken chain on most necklaces. All you need is a pair of small needle nose pliers in order to fix the broken chain on your necklace.

Step One: Examine The Necklace

The first thing that you need to do is examine the necklace and see how it is broken. Look and see if you have two different links that are intact and closed or if one of the links in the chain is broken and the other is intact.

Step Two: Open Up A Link

If the links on both sides are closed, you are going to need to open up the link on one side. To do this, you are going to want to take your needle-nose pliers and use the pliers to pull open a link on one side so that the link is opened up. If one link is already open on one side, then you can skip this step.

Step Three: Hook Together

Third, take the link that you opened up with your needle-nose pliers and hook it into the link that is intact on the other side of the necklace. If the link is really small, you may want to use a magnifying glass. However, you should be able to do this tasks without a magnifying glass. Just take the open link and slip it into the closed link that is intact.

Step Four: Close The Link

Fourth, you need to close the link now that you have joined it with the other side of your necklace. You are going to need to use your needle-nose pliers to close the link in the necklace that is open. You will need to hold onto the link and use your other hand to operate the pliers and squeeze the link shut. At this point, the open link should be intertwined with the intact link.

Step Five: Enjoy Your Necklace

Finally, take your pliers and squeeze on the link again to make sure that the chain of the necklace is properly connected. You can test out your repair job by pulling gently on the necklace on either side of the area that you just fixed. If everything stays together, then you are good. If the link comes apart, repeat steps three and four again.

About Me
Choosing Beautiful Jewelry

I have always been someone who loves to look great for work, but about six months ago I was surprised when a coworker pulled me aside. She talked with me about how loud my jewelry was looking, and she explained that more than a few clients had complained about it. I realized that she was right, so I started looking for classier pieces of jewelry that very day. It was incredible to see how big of a difference a few small shopping trips made. Check out this blog for great information about choosing beautiful, simple jewelry that you will love forever.
